Leon Wei, founder of Posture Reminder AI, at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park
Hi, I'm Leon Wei, founder of Posture Reminder AI.
I built it after spending long days at a computer and noticing the same pattern over and over: as soon as I got deep into work, my posture would slip. Over time that turned into regular neck and back pain.
I tried the usual fixes: better intentions, ergonomic advice, and reminders from people around me. They helped for a moment, but not at the exact time I started to slump.
So I built the product I wanted for myself. It had to be private, lightweight, and accurate enough to respond to the way I actually sit at my desk, not to a generic posture rule.
That is what Posture Reminder AI is designed to do: notice the drift, send a timely reminder, and get out of the way so you can keep working.
Posture Reminder AI uses computer vision and on-device AI to learn two reference positions during setup: your natural upright posture and the slump you want to catch. From there, it monitors posture locally on your Mac and nudges you only when you drift.
Everything runs on your device. No photos or posture data are sent to a server, and the app still works when you are offline.
Outside of Posture Reminder AI, I teach AI and data fundamentals at SQLPad and advise startups in machine learning. Before that, I led machine learning teams at Apple, worked as a research scientist at Amazon, and spent years building applied AI products.
You can find me on Twitter or LinkedIn. If you have feedback on the app, I would genuinely like to hear it.
